While at Publicis I did the campaigns for the Toronto Blue Jays for 2 seasons in a row. Players were the big draw, but they had limited acting ability, so the first year we didn’t ask them to do much more than what they know how to do, swing or throw. The Frank Thomas ad made it to the front cover of the Globe and Mail and received tons of free press for CBC ruling that it was too violent.
The second year we wrote the players out and instead cast the players back when they were kids and closed with the tagline – Born to Play.
